Gorgeous, unspoiled, characterful riverside pub

Nestled along the tranquil Isis River is Oxford's Hidden Gem. The Isis Riverside Pub is Oxford's cherished independent haven, blending historical charm, delectable cuisine, and soul-stirring music, culminating in our renowned free Gipsy Jazz performance every Sunday from 7 pm. With an inviting ambiance, the welcoming glow of open fires during the winter months, a selection of locally crafted beers and ales and unspoiled views, we are not just a pub; we are an enchanting destination, perfect for intimate gatherings, jubilant celebrations and cherished moments. We are dog friendly, child friendly and family friendly. We hope to see you soon.

“The great thing about the Isis Farmhouse is that it’s only accessible on foot, by bicycle from the Thames path, or from the river itself. The spacious garden has lots of picnic tables, where you can sup your pint while you watch narrowboats chugging idly past, or the river path traffic of walkers and cyclists.”

Getting here

Part of the pleasure of our pub is arriving here after a hot summer stroll, or a wrapped-up winter walk. You can walk (or cycle, row or drive your boat!) to the Isis Farmhouse from two different directions.

1) from St Aldate's/Christchurch-

Come down the towpath which is on the opposite side of the river to Christchurch meadow. Look out for Salter's Steamers boat tours, which is on the same side of the road as Christchurch.

There is a ramp running down to the river, just after Salter's. Walk down the ramp, the river will be to your left.

Keep walking, and then keep walking some more – it is a busy path with runners, cyclists and dog-walkers. The river will remain to your left and fields to the right. Walk under a large bridge with a busy road above. About seven minutes after this you will find the Isis River Farmhouse on your right.

The whole walk should not take more than 25-30 minutes from Christchurch.

2) from Iffley Village

Get to Mill Lane in Iffley and then follow the sign for Iffley Lock. Walk across the lock and turn right when you are over the river. You will see the Isis River Farmhouse on the left after 1-2 minutes walk.

There are mooring rings right outside the pub for boating customers.
