Härva Quartet

  • The Isis Farmhouse Haystacks Corner, The Towing Path, Iffley Lock Oxford, OX4 4EL United Kingdom (map)

Härva are: Swiss/Swedish violinist Viljo Busch, British ‘talented, nimble fingered and soulful’ [The Guardian UK] accordionist Faith Elliott-Ristic, Swiss-Chilean guitarist Lucien Caceres, and Belgian double bassist Antoine Girard.

Formed in 2023, Härva is a vibrant trio of four artists with deep and contrasting musical roots. The group is co-led by Swiss-Swedish violinist Viljo Busch, passionate about Transylvanian traditions and trained with the legendary Taraf de Haidouks; and British accordionist Faith Elliott-Ristic, a leading figure in Serbian Roma music. Settled in the Jura region of Switzerland after an international career, she has collaborated with Emir Kusturica and performed on the world's greatest stages (Royal Albert Hall, WOMAD, Australia National Folk Festival). Their collaboration gives rise to a unique sonic universe blending violin, accordion, guitar, tabor pipe, and voice. Alongside them, the talented Swiss guitarist Lucian Caceres, a specialist in gypsy jazz, adds to this incandescent trio, with Belgian bassist Antoine Girard completing it on Bass. Inspired by festive Romanian dances, poignant Roma chants, Swedish vocal harmonies, the rhythms of Serbian Kolo and the Balkan jazz of Ionica Minune, Härva takes the audience on a musical odyssey between tradition and modernity

“one of the most respected performers of Serbian Roma accordion music... a spellbinding sweet sound” - BBC Radio 3
